Finding a plumber, electrician, or other local worker can be surprisingly difficult when you don't already have a trusted contact.
LocalFix is a self-initiated product design concept exploring how standalone homeowners can find trustworthy local service providers for small home-repair needs.
The problem
When something breaks at home, people often rely on neighbours, WhatsApp groups, Google searches, or personal contacts to find someone. Even after finding a worker, there can be uncertainty around trust, availability, and pricing.
The opportunity
Instead of simply creating another service marketplace, I explored a neighbourhood-first approach where users can discover local workers based on proximity, experience, reviews, and recommendations from nearby homes.
The experience
The prototype focuses on one simple journey:
Need a repair → Describe the problem → Discover trusted nearby workers → Understand the estimated price → Review the worker's quote → Confirm the request.
Key design focus
* Building trust before inviting a worker into the home
 • Making price uncertainty more transparent
 • Reducing the effort required to find local help
 • Keeping the experience simple enough for an urgent situation
Prototype
This project was designed as a focused 0→1 product exploration, with the goal of solving one specific user problem rather than building a complete home-services marketplace.
